Qualisys Sports Marker Set

The Qualisys Sports Marker Set is dedicated to sports and biomechanics applications using the Qualisys Skeleton Solver. As opposed to the animation marker set, the segments associated with the sports marker set are defined in a conventional and biomechanical way which helps to compute and interpret the joint angles more easily. For detailed information about the Qualisys Sports Marker Set, you can open the marker set guide via the Skeleton menu.

The marker set guide contains information about:

• The markers and their placement.

• The use of static markers required for the skeleton calibration.

• The use of optional extra markers, see also chapter Adding extra markers to a skeleton.

Two AIM models for the Qualisys Sports Marker Set are included in the installation of QTM in the subfolder Models\AIM\:

• Sports_Static.qam
  Generic AIM model including static markers for the skeleton calibration.

• Sports_Dynamic.qam
  Generic AIM model without static markers for dynamic measurements.

Both AIM models are pre-trained for trouble free automatic labeling of a wide range of movements and actors. For guidelines on how to use these AIM models in different scenarios, see chapter Using AIM for sports and biomechanics.

It is possible to use alternative labels for the markers. This can be useful if you have existing files with a different markers set. For more information on how to use a different mapping of markers, see chapter Skeleton marker label mapping.
