Store real-time data

The processed real-time data is saved directly to the QTM file when the option Store real-time data is enabled on the Processing page. This option can for example be used to speed up the capture process, while still being able to quickly review the data after a capture. In this mode only the export processing steps are active and all processing steps that changes data are disabled.

All of the raw data is stored in the file, so that the data can be reprocessed.

When using the Store real-time data option, it is recommended to reprocess the files afterwards. The quality of the processed data may improve when reprocessing the file, e.g. for AIM reprocessing which can use all of the data in the file to identify trajectories. There may also be missing frames in case real-time frames were skipped during the recording.

When the capture rate is too fast, the real time frequency is reduced. When storing the real-time data it means that 3D data is only processed for part of the frames.

The following applies to the different data types:

Data type Process every frame option enabled Process every frame option disabled
2D (raw) All raw 2D data is included in the file All raw 2D data is included in the file
2D (processed) All of the 2D data is processed and used for 3D tracking Some 2D data may not be processed or used for 3D tracking
3D (unidentified) All of the 3D data is tracked using all 2D data Some 3D data may not use all of the 2D data available in the file. The result can be 3D data with reduced quality.
3D (identified) AIM can only use old 3D data to identify the trajectory. When reprocessing the data AIM can use all of the data in the file for identification. Same as for when the option is enabled and the reduced 3D data quality may also affect AIM .

6DOF

Same as for 3D (identified) Same as for 3d (identified)
Skeleton Same as for 3D (identified) Same as for 3d (identified)
Analog All of the analog data is included and offsets are applied to all of the analog samples All of the analog data is included and offsets are applied to all of the analog samples
Force Forces are calculated for all of the samples Forces are calculated for all of the samples
EMG All of the EMG samples are included in the file All of the EMG samples are included in the file
Eyetracker

Reprocessing is recommended, because the delay between eyetracker and 6DOF data is not compensated for in real-time.

The Gaze data is calculated for all of the samples.
