Instrumented treadmill
It is possible to use the running analysis module with instrumented treadmills. The following points must be considered:
- Visual3D automatically assigns the force to the left/right foot depending on which foot is in contact with the treadmill. The force vector will turn blue in Visual3D will appear in blue to indicate that it has been assigned to a body segment.
- By default, the assigned forces will be used for event detection. The following options exist in the file [QTM project folder]\Templates\settings.php:
- 'force_platform_threshold': threshold (in Newtons) to detect foot strike and toe off event.
- 'analog_lowpass_fq_cutoff': cutoff frequency used for lowpass filtering of analog signals.
- When assigned forces exist, a page with kinetic parameters (joint moments, power) will automatically be appended to the Visual3D report.
- For slow running speeds and walking, both feet must be on separate belts of the force plates at all times. If both feet make contact with the same belt at some point, the file needs to be cropped to exclude these sections.
- The module has not been tested with all instrumented treadmills. Please contact Qualisys if you experience any issues with your type of treadmills.
Arsalis (Gaitway-3D) treadmill
-
When h/p/cosmos treadmill with Gaitway-3D integration is used, single force is automatically decomposed into two forces. It is required that treadmill is connected to the computer for decomposition to happen.
-
For the algorithm to work it is necessary to export analog signals to TSV files. To do so, open your project in QTM, go to > Project Options > Processing >TSV Export and on Data Type check Analog check box and General settings as indicated in the picture.
Note: Analog rate must be equal to or higher then the marker rate.
If the Gaitway treadmill is controlled from another PC, you need to install the Gaitway software on the Qualisys PC as well (i.e. on the PC where you run the Visual3D processing). The Qualisys PC needs to have network access to the Gaitway treadmill to be able to run the Gaitway force splitting algorithm.
