Qualisys video capture
An important feature of Qualisys cameras is the video functionality. All Qualisys cameras can be used in video mode. This can for example be useful when setting up the camera system to see the image area of the individual cameras. Video capture with Qualisys cameras offers the following advantages:
-
Synchronized video capture with marker data
-
The possibility to use 3D data overlay
Qualisys offers a range of camera models that can be used as dedicated video cameras. Such cameras feature a clear front glass, a white strobe. Oqus high-speed cameras also have a larger buffer memory buffer for storing video frames. Dedicated video cameras are the Miqus Video and Video+ series, and Oqus 2c. Furthermore, several Oqus types are available in a high-speed video configuration (monochrome image). For more information about the various types of Qualisys video cameras, see chapter Video cameras.
The image resolution and the available range of video capture frequencies depend on the camera model. Some camera models have high-speed sensor modes, which allow video capture at full field-of-view at reduced resolution. Oqus high-speed cameras can capture video at rates up to 10 kHz (uncompressed, reduced FOV). Some camera models feature in-camera MJPEG compression, allowing longer recordings at a reduced maximum capture rate. In standard marker cameras, the video capture rate is limited to 30 Hz. For an overview of features of Qualisys video cameras, see chapters Qualisys video sensor specifications (in-camera MJPEG) and High-speed video.
The following chapters describe how to capture video with Qualisys cameras.
