Marker count threshold

The Marker count threshold controls the percentage of identified segment markers needed to solve a skeleton. You can use this setting for example to make QTM solve skeletons with few labeled trajectories. The percentage is set from 1 to 100 % of the skeleton segment markers.

The threshold is applied according to the following rules.

  • The percentage is rounded down to the nearest number of segment markers. For example if the skeleton has 10 segment markers then a 35% threshold means that at least 3 segment markers are needed to solve the skeleton.

  • Each trajectory in the skeleton is associated with at least one segment marker. Some trajectories are associated with two segment markers, e.g. the elbows. It means that the number of segment markers are usually more than the number of trajectories in the skeleton.

  • The skeleton root segment must have at least 3 identified trajectories. For the Animation and Sports marker sets the root segment is the pelvis. For the hand skeletons the root segment is the hand.

  • The finger skeletons consists of sub-skeletons for each finger. The percentage applies to each skeleton individually, so that the skeleton for the body can be solved even if many finger markers are missing. Note that the markers on the hand are included in the body skeleton so if those are missing in combination with a high marker count threshold, then the body skeleton is not solved.
