Qualisys Motion Capture System

A Qualisys motion capture system consists of Qualisys cameras connected to a computer running Qualisys Track Manager (QTM) software. The system captures and streams various types of motion data. It can also integrate with third-party data acquisition devices, such as force plates, EMG systems, and eye trackers.

Qualisys cameras and devices

Qualisys offers marker cameras for marker detection and video cameras for synchronized video recording. The camera system can be calibrated through various methods, primarily using wand calibration with a Qualisys calibration kit. To synchronize with external devices, a Qualisys Camera Sync Unit must be included in the system.

Qualisys software

Qualisys offers the following software and resources.

  • Qualisys Track Manager (QTM)

    The main software for Qualisys Motion Capture systems.

  • QTM Connect

    Real-time QTM clients for specific external programs, such as Matlab, LabView, MotionBuilder, etc.

  • Analysis modules

    Predefined applications based on the Project Automation Framework (PAF) in QTM, see chapter Applications.

  • QCloud

    Online resources, including online processing and the web report center, see chapter Applications.

  • Developers' resources

    SDKs for building real-time clients for QTM, QTM scripting resources, and Open Project Automation Framework (OpenPAF) resources, available via the Qualisys GitHub page at https://github.com/qualisys.

Qualisys user account

To access the Qualisys user dashboard, you need a Qualisys user account. To create an account associated with your QTM license, follow the instructions below:

  1. Navigate in your browser to Qualisys.com, and hover over the lock icon to log in or to sign up for an account.

  2. When you log in for the first time, enter your QTM username and license key so that you can access the relevant content. If you are a lab manager, selecting the checkbox will let you add team members and customize the online report center for your lab.

If you are new in a lab that already uses Qualisys, ask your lab manager to create a new account.
